With physical stores shut down and digital commerce picking intense momentum due to the coronavirus pandemic, today 21st Apr 2020, Google Product updates for Google shopping stated;
“It’s now Free to Sell on Google Shopping Results”
This means Google Shopping tab search results will consist of free listings by merchants to help connect with consumers, (regardless of whether they run Google Shopping ads campaign), to support many merchants who have items to people’s need and ready to ship, but can’t scale it online from next week.
So definitely a win-win situation for the Retailers, Shoppers & Advertisers with all “Thanks to Google” that the retailers can create free exposure of their products while the shoppers have more discoverable through Google shopping results & Advertisers have paid shopping campaigns augmented with free product listings.
Few other updates to this Google Shopping topic;
- Existing shopping campaign advertisers would automatically fall into this advantage
- For New merchant center users, the onboarding process will start over coming weeks and months
- This change will take place in the United States by the end of Apr and will be introduced globally before the end of this year
- In partnership with Paypal to allow merchants links their accounts
- Working closely with existing partners including Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce who manage merchants products & inventory to help in the smooth flow of the digital commerce on Google shopping for all business sizes
